ODK Collect 1.1.6 crashes during Location questions #147

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Open a form like Sample.xml in ODK Collect 1.1.6
2.Swipe over to a location question
3.9 times out of 10 it has crashed for me

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I did get it to not crash in another form, but for other forms I tried it with,
it pretty regularly crashed.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ODK Collect 1.1.6 on a DroidX running Android 2.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Can you provide a logcat of the thrown exception?

I don't see this occurring on NexusOne or Droid with the latest tip. Can you
try the latest 1.1.6 tip and see if you still have this problem?

The logcat shows an uncaught native exception, rather than an exception in the
Java stack, so it may be something in the 2.2 Android OS (I am testing with
2.2.1 and 2.2.2).

I've uninstalled and reinstalled ODK Collect from
http://cs.washington.edu/homes/chartung/ODK-Collect.apk

I'm on a Droid X running 2.2.1. Testing with miramare form, I get repeated
crashes on the 3rd question of observation (1): "How distinct are the
tracks? Clear or Unclear" The radio buttons aren't active... you can't
actually select a radio button, then you must force close the app.
"Sorry! The application ODK Collect (process org.odk.collect.android) has
stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

Do you need another logcat to debug?

Ah, the version at http://cs.washington.edu/homes/chartung/ODK-Collect.apk was
several months old and isn't updated regularly. However, I just updated that
link to the latest from the repository, but in the future that link won't be
current.

We'll try to get a link to an .apk built from the latest source online soon,
but until then everyone will have to build the latest from source themselves.
