signalapp provides since may 2020 libsignal-client library for signal: https://github.com/signalapp/libsignal-client

the electron based client is 300mb and more, which not really slim.

this code is written in Swift, for Apple unfortunately it would take too much time to implement it, so if there was no maintainer for this plugin, it'd hardly be implemented... from another side, I'd be glad to help anyone brave who would wanna write this plugin
