Should we be more prescriptive around sponsor/large enterprise behavior? #2

Sponsor organizations receive a limited number of free registrations, based on their sponsor level. A remote meeting does not incur all the travel costs normally borne by those organizations. Should we encourage organizations to donate some of their free registrations to a fee waiver program, if they can afford it? Alternatively, should we encourage them to apply those registrations to members of their communities that might not otherwise attend?

Right now sponsors are allowed to defer their freebies until the next in-person meeting. perhaps they can be encouraged to convert all/some of them to fee waivers.

I actually never understand these free registrations for sponsors. I mean it's still paying for these registrations but simply as part of a larger bunch of money. However, this really goes into questions about how sponsoring and financing works in general and therefore it's a question for the LLC and not the shmoo working group from my point of view. I explicitly was trying to focus on the principle here, while leaving any implementation details to the LLC.

I recommend keeping this out of scope for the document, in particular because it will constrain the flexibility to adapt sponsorship offers/deals. And whenever we ask 'should we be more prescriptive' I think the answer is no. ;-)

Agreed. @jdreed can we close this issue?

Closing.
