I'm not sure this addition is actually true or at least we don't have sufficient evidence that it is true. The participation numbers have changed a lot since the beginning of the pandemic and even now we have a very different ratio of remote vs in-person and also a rather different number of total participation. So while the number did not decrease to a level that is concerning and it might be reasonable to assume that we didn't loose a lot of people, I don't think the numbers can tell that.
How about changing the last sentence to
Consensus is that this concern has been unfounded.
We don't have numbers but we have the feeling that this is true.
I don't understand how the registration number would show this at all. We have about 250 people in each meeting that use the fee waiver. We simply don't know if these people would register if there would be no fee waiver.
This concern was not proven out in the numbers the last few years, so we need to say that.
