Windows 8 Compatibility? #258

What is the problem? 
Doesn't seem to work in Windows 8. It hangs on the attached screen shot.

Minimalist version   - Assume the latest as downloaded from the Chrome Web 
Store. Won't load so can;t check version.
Relevant core module - All
Chrome version       - 25.0.1364.26 dev-m
Operating System     - Windows 8 Enterprise 64 Bit
Language             - English
Google Apps user?    - No
Other extensions     - n/a

This isn't just a Windows 8 problem; I have this issue on Windows XP and 
Windows 7.

Minimalist version   - I can't check the version b/c it doesn't load. 
Downloaded it today, 1/17/13
Relevant core module - All I guess?
Chrome version       - 24.0.1312.52 m
Operating System     - Windows 7 Enterprise 64 & Windows XP Professional
Language             - English
Google Apps user?    - No
Other extensions     - n/a [fresh install on both systems, no sync]
