Open Sans Condensed - Font naming issue #274

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Download the Open Sans Condensed font files

2. Check 'OpenSans-CondBold.ttf'. The title of the font is 'Open Sans
Condensed'.

3. Check 'OpenSans-CondLight.ttf' and 'OpenSans-CondLightItalic'.
The title of these fonts is 'Open Sans'.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected that all Condensed versions of the Open Sans font would be named
'Open Sans Condensed' but this is not the case. The light and light italic
versions are both titled 'Open Sans' and have the 'condensed' part included in
the subset title.

This is very frustrating when switching between the normal and condensed fonts
because the two incorrectly named condensed styles show up under the normal
'Open Sans' family while only the bold condensed version shows up under 'Open
Sans Condensed' (see attached screenshot).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Font version 1.10 with Photoshop CC under OSX 1.8.5

Please provide any additional information below.

I am quite interested in having this issue resolved. I'm encountering it on a
Linux system. Not sure how to check the font version.

Same here (also OS X), regardless of the website downloaded from. Two weights
of Open Sans Condensed show up under Open Sans family.
