Hi Mr. V.

As promised I have created a "wish list" for the Next Generation Nox 😉 Unfortunately this is not the right category, but I can't find a suitable thread.

Maybe you can move it Mr. V? But first, a note. I have tested the version of Madnox of the Git and much of the style adjusted and tested and must say that it runs very stable!!!

Let's get to the wish list:

With regards Fake Discart, I think it has merit for Movies and Music, but not so much for TV shows.

In this age of "streaming", DVDs are losing relevance, especially where TV shows are concerned. I have half a dozen to a dozen TV Show Box sets myself, but this is indeed a minority, even in my expansive collection.

With regards Views, I've already asked Mr.V if he can make Showcase View his priority (for the video library) and Wall View (for the music library) at such times as his focus gets to viewtypes. Alas, there is much to do before we get to the (admittedly) lower priority view options. I think I understand how he's prioritising his focus on this project, and why. So i'm happy to continue using Madnox 1.0 until we get to that point. Patience, as they say, is a virtue.

I understand your opinion but for me TV series for example are very important. Especially the old series (cartoon etc.) of the 90s are not available via streaming. And if then only badly animated ;) Therefore I have many old TV series in my collection.

With the fake discarts I honestly find it very special that Madnox offers that. I haven't found another skin that can do that yet. This is a small unique selling point 🥇

Currently it is programmed in Madnox so that 4 or 6 episodes always make one disc.

Maybe we can agree that Fake Disc Art for TV series only comes with the Lowlist View? Or on and off?

How did you figure about the views?

Is there a query who wants which views and at the end is compared which ones were mentioned most often? Or do you take all the old views?

I will send you some suggestions this afternoon (German Time).

From the old view I only use Showcase for movies, LowList for series and Episonden for radio.

Question: Does the number of views have a clear effect on the performance?

For me it is very important that Madnox finally runs perormant on an Odroid etc. in 4K. I already tried about 6 different clients and currently I need at least one Intel GPU with IRIS 655 to run Madnox in 4K. Intel with UHD 620 doesn't work for us everything underneath doesn't work at all.....

Ironically, I have the "Real Ghostbusters" series too, as well as the original "G1 Transformers" box set.

I'm not against it per-se, but like all options, I would like to see it able to be turned-off if it is added, as for a lot of retro TV shows I have (UK), there will never be any proper disc art available, and not all posters make a great source for fake disc art, and I guess the same applies with the music section.

Each to their own, I guess.

Can the database info be hidden? Unfortunately, it is irritating if you have smartplaylists.

The submenu is permanently displayed. It can be hidden and only appears if you press "down".

I think your/our work on the skin is really great so far! You can see that the skin is getting better and better.

You have also added a lot of new and cool features, I think.

Let me ask you a general question...... Do you want to leave for example backgrounds, standard colors and mouse pointer like this? Personally, I have to say that I think the mouse pointer is a bit too "playful".

If I understood it correctly, should Madnox ever go into the kodi repository in the future?

Everyone has their own taste, but I would find it cool if Madnox had a reputation for being very elegant/simple and noble.

But that's my opinion...what do you think about it or the others?

I think you should aim for the middle-ground with Madnox 2.0 IMHO. Aeon Nox 5 is too minamalist for my tastes, and Madnox 1.0 has so many options & graphics it ends up maxing out Kodi's memory allocation as well as being difficult to run well on NUC type devices.

Nothing wrong with bells and whistles, but there has to be a limit. Madnox 1.0 has had at least 4 different maintainers in it's progression from Aeon Nox 4 to where it is now. All of whom have modified it to their desires.

Not bad in and of itself, the skin certainly has become bloated & cumbersome. So if it were me, I'd be taking the minimalism of Nox 5, combine it with the best (and most popular) aspects of Madnox 1.0, with a few additional tweaks and additions, and you'll, in my view, have a winner, that's also worthy of submission to the Kodi repo.

After all, that's the aim here, isn't it?

I don't know any way doing this. I can only code what PVR list items are available in kodi. As shown here https://kodi.wiki/view/InfoLabels#PVR

Would it be possible to source unicode versions of the fonts you use with this skin? I have several anime soundtracks that have been scraped in MusicBrainz Picard, but since the text has been replaced with the japanese Hiragana / Katakana / Kanji equivilents, all that's displayed in Kodi are empty spaces or hollow rectangular boxes.

Not many skins lend this sort of support, so this would be somewhat of a "one-up" over them. I am assuming here, that no special language selection is nessecary in Kodi to simply display foriegn script language characters. If this belief is in error, please feel free to correct me.

Can you possibly add a default Main Menu item for "Program Add-ons" please? Or add it as a default sub-menu item for the "System" menu item. I managed to bodge something together myself using default skin options, for the category, and added some of my more utilized add-ons as sub-menu items, but it's both a bit time-consuming, and not all program add-ons work as sub menu items (i.e: those that use nested list views, for example).

In my vision for this request, the sub menu would ideally contain the diffent classes of add-on (Like Video Add-ons, Music Add-ons, etc.), including the "favourites" class / item, instead of individual add-ons, but the main menu item selection would default to the "Program Add-ons" class, as per Aeon Madnox 1.0.

Also, currently, selecting the "Live TV" menu item, brings up a fixed list of channels, with the currently aired programme. Any way to change this to the EPG guide as default behaviour, and relegate the "Channel List" to a sub-menu item. I, and i suspect many others, would prefer to see the expanded view of the EPG guide (i.e: What's on now & Next) rather than the rather simplistic channel list as is currently the case.

@gibxxi Looking at improving the required recommended addon section in skin settings. It is not work as it should be, so it is the time to improve anything to do with addons.
