Custom fonts do not load correctly on Android < 10

Describe the bug

From the forum: There seem to be issues with custom font paths when loading fonts on earlier versions of Android. This appears to only affect the companion but confirmation is needed.

Expected behavior

Fonts should be loaded from the correct locations whether in companion or compiled mode.
