The MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change is looking for help building an interactive map to help state and local policymakers understand the risks of climate change in their communities.
IAP, Spring, Summer, Fall
You will work with our senior software engineer to add features to a frontend and backend for an interactive mapping and data-visualization website. The website is open-source (github.com/cypressf/climate-risk-map). Some potential improvements include:
TypeScript, React, and git experience is necessary. Experience with SQL queries and Rust (the backend) is a bonus. Experience with GIS is a bonus.
You will work within a diverse team of researchers with interests in the area of Earth-system and climate science, climate-related impacts on human health and biodiversity, land-energy-water systems, agro/socio/energy economics, data/machine-learning and visualization. You will have opportunities to contribute to multi-author publications.
