Have you tried setting your screen timeout longer? I don't see how this wouldn't be desired behavior. If your phone is locked while logging in, and you haven't checked keep me logged in, you would want Mitro to lock itself.
In my opinion, it should mean that it mantains your credentials until you close the application.. I've tried to set the timeout screen longer: it managed to login in but then, when i tried to show a password, it took so long time that I gave up (after 2 min). When I mark the "stay logged in" flag it doesn't take so much time.
I can see only the spinner when "keep me logged in" is not checked and I want to show one particular password.
When I try to login throught the Mitro Android App without marking the "keep me logged in" checkbox, the app doesn't prevent the screen going to sleep. When I wake up the screen I can see just for a moment the string "wait while decrypting", then suddendly the app comes back to the login screen.
