Suggesting recipes

Auto suggestions for recipes based on the stuff a user likes and mixes often, as well as based on their stash (“We see you’ve been mixing a lot of recipes including strawberry! Maybe you want to try THIS recipe”). You could also go a little extra step and only suggest recipes that the user can mix right away, based on their current stash

This can be simple as:

• What can you make and haven't mixed?
• What could you make by buying 1 or 2 flavors?
• What did you like in the past and haven't mixed for a long time?

These can be sorted by e. g. popularity (how often have they been mixed), rating or just new stuff first.

Or advanced like:

• Keep track of what users like, dislike and mix often. Match that with what other users like, dislike and mix often and suggest favorites from that other user. Favorites could be picked automatically or be curated by the user.

A stream of "pick a random recipe that I can mix, but haven't mixed" would be nice. Maybe make it Tinder like to swipe left for "ignore" or swipe right to "tag as to do" (i never used Tinder, so it might need to be the other way around :) ).

The tinder feature sounds fun to me, but might be low-prio as well. Question for me would be, does the website kinda "pop" that in your face, not as a literal pop-up, but like this message get's displayed somewhere? (Kinda like amazon recommends you products other people bought or viewed as well) Or would you specifically have to go to a page to see that?

The tinder feature I'd imagine as something you have to actively go to. Low prio indeed.

The other suggestions I would integrate into the page:

• Suggestions for you would be shown on the start page. On the start page it should pick a random algorithm on which suggestions to show, to prevent it from being too static. We could even add a "last suggested" timestamp somewhere, to not show a recipe again for an hour or 15 minutes or…
• Suggestions per recipe would be shown somewhere on the recipe page. "Other users that mix this also mix…". I wouldn't limit that to the users flavor stash.
• Ideally (maybe? I'm not too sure) we could come up with an algorithm to calculate a suggestion value per user per recipe. If we had that, I would love to be able to sort by that value in the recipe list. Note: depending on what we pick to calculate that value I'd expect the calculation to be expensive and it might be done in an extra / external script that only runs once every day / hour…
