For example, $ip or $time, OUTSIDE of the properties dict in people messages (see stdPeopleMessage and associated stuff)

This feature is available in release 1.2.0, which is still wending it's way through the Java/Maven/Nexus digestive system. It should be available (for folks who change their dependencies to 1.2.0) in a few hours.
