In these sources, the package repos are pinned to a specific commit - and rebuilding the firmware image still results in many packages showing as having updates available, which can't all be applied to the same system at once due to the lack of writable space on the overlay filesystem.
On the other hand, unpinning the repos entirely causes dependency issues and missing package errors which prevent the firmware from successfully building.
… but there must be a way to reconcile this, as (space-dependent, some of) the updates can be applied after the fact into the overlay filesystem.
How can this repo be reconfigured such that a fresh firmware build shows no packages in need of update?
