Which OS are you using? I guess Linux. Try to start Mixxx from the command line. You can than use the pulse ALSA so pulse loopback device. This allows you to play with Mixxx while watching YouTube videos.

Gotcha, thanks. I was seeking to avoid latency by going directly with ALSA and was envisioning something like turning the engine off and on in Carla.
I guess I can just do the same with JACK, though Firefox, while it works with JACK, doesn't work well with JACK, but that's an easier solution all-in-all :)

What exactly does "You can than use the pulse ALSA so pulse loopback device." mean? Guessing "so" is "to".
I have tried setting main out to pulse and to a Loopback PCM: etc option, but neither allow audio from Firefox whilst Mixxx is open.
(I have an estimated 12 ahead of clearing key (and double that for intro cue, as I see newer versions detect initial audio start better), plus I guess 24 hours plus reanalysing my library, ahead of me, I'd really like to listen to music and watch videos whilst that happens.)

It would be nice if, when the Sound API is set to None, if Mixxx could release the sound device so that, say, videos could be played in a web browser.
It would also be nice if this could be toggled via a menu item, or something similarly more easy to access than having to go into the preferences dialog.
(I'd like to watch some DJ tutorials whilst keeping Mixxx open)
