Hi all,
I would like to request a feature that is really important to how I use Mixxx. The use case is creating DJ mixes for listening and sharing. But as we all know getting it all right in one go is not so easy. So I would like to try transitions multiple times and use the one that sounds best. Phared in a different way, the feature should make it possible save a mix of tracks A, B and C and the continue working from the end at a later point, to add track D. Certainly many users have the same need.
Older versions of Traktor had such a feature. You could save your progress as a (proprietary) file and load such files to continue from the same point in the mix. When finished, such a file could be converted to wav to obtain your completed mix.
Technically, I guess what was saved was simply a list of timestamps and audible actions taken at that time, such as starting / stopping a track, effects, fader, etc.
Currently the only way to achieve this type of incremental mixing in Mixxx is by doing individual transitions and eventually merging it all in a software like Audacity, which is very cumbersome. A way to save an incomplete mix and continue working from there would make things much easier and enables user to attain a quality of mixing, effects and samples that you can never achieve when doing it all live in one session and one try.
Could you please check if such a feature can be implemented? I believe it would make this program much better and and excellent tool for everyone who produces DJ mixes for sites like Soundcloud, Youtube, etc.
