You can simply drag a mixxx.log into the comment box
Or save it as mixxx.log.txt in case Github rejects it
Or, you put long text inside
<details>
</details>
tags
Here it is connect.mixxx.log
The relevant part is this I think

I hope I did it right. It wouldn't let me drag and drop[ or add file. I'm hoping to figure out why I can't connect but the test connect says I can.
My guess is that there is still something blocked. We may check the local firewall rules upon connecting to rule out such common pitfalls. I have just found: https://github.com/gregtampa/firewall-notifier The issue is that such a Appilcation accessing the local firewall needs eleveated permissions :-/
Normally Windows should warn you if something new is blocked. Please verify:
You may then go to the C:\Program Files\Mixxx\folder and create a copy of mixxx.exe like mixxx2.exe this way it is considered a s new and the pop up will pop up.
(I am not on windows, so I cannot verify it)
I have prepared here a build with the recent version of libshout-idjc mabe it makes a difference? https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/actions/runs/9281295525?pr=4723 Login to GitHub and you will find a download link at the bottom of the page.
Some more info on testing, incl. backup: https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/wiki/Testing
I don't know what to do with the build. Sorry, I'm just trying to play music. I tried turning off the firewall and still can't stream. same error. It is set to notify blocks. There is no history of blocked items in defender firewall. Before I load any more music, I could uninstall and reinstall. I just don't know where to go from here

Don't bother for now, let's check the firewall settings first. There need to be two ports open: the one you configure in Mixxx (8000?), and the next (8001 in that case). https://manual.mixxx.org/2.4/en/chapters/livebroadcasting#troubleshooting
FWIW actually this is actually a support topic, for which we have the forums. There are many broadcasting topics with many possible solutions and many users to help. https://mixxx.discourse.group/c/support/6
Here is a screenshot in firewall. I went through the forums but didn't find one like mine. I'm using icecast2 and the port is 8000. The screenshot taking forever to load but I see in defender thatMIXXX digital software is not enabled and override is also - no ![Uploading windows defender.png…]()
The image upload didn't work. Don't click comment before the upload finished. You can verify in the Preview tab.
I am trying to figure out where I would open port 8001 ? The broadcast setting only has one line to enter the port. Now is set to 8000.
I'd say that has to be done both in the firewall and the router/modem. You may also take a look at the router's log, maybe there's a hint what's happening when you try to connect.
I'm pretty sure this is not a Mixxx bug (which uses an external, rather well-proven library for broadcasting) and therefore suggest you open a topic in the forum, like "Need help setting up firewall for shoutcast". There are many more users who can help than here on Github where it's about features and bugs and where mostly developers are around (who are rather busy with, well, developing ; )
ok I will try reinstalling. my old computer streams fine with same settings. reinstall didn't work but I didn't delete the music files so they came back up. I will put something in the community but maybe mixxx just doesnt work with windows 11? I cant buy another computer so I hope I don't have to quit when my old computer crashes. its going obsolete.

I expected that, also I doubt Windows 11 in general is the issue. Also many users on various platforms use Mixxx for broadcasting, but there are certain hosts that require a special configuration (that's why there frequently support requests on the forum). I think sooner or later you'll figure it out.

I think it would help already if Mixxx would log the port on which it's expecting the response.
It looks like ingest.live 365.com
is not a valid domain. Did you mean to use ingest.live365.com
?
I think we can look at improving the error message so non resolving DNS like this one have a clearer error message
Yes acolombier. The link is correct as- HOST. The first is just the label in broadcast connections. Could that be causing a conflict? I checked old computer and it is labeled same as link. I will try tonight when a slot is open to test the connection. Im also wondering if there is a conflict in UAP settings? I think i'm not supposed to play with those. I saw somewhere a recommendation to turn off the ask for permission to elevate prompt. Not sure thats my problem but I reached a place where i'm completely blind on changing settings at this level. I'm still confused why the connection 1 test connection says it's working fine. I gave the experimental version a try also but it didn't connect either.
It could be yes. From the log you shared, it looks like the server host which is used is the wrong one (with the space) so there could be a bug there. I don't know what UAP is - User and password? If yes, likely not the problem as the error message seems to indicate and timeout (which is I suspect is related to the non resolving domain name) Could you please show the XML file for your broadcasting profile? It should be in your Mixxx config directory (C:/Users/J-Marie/AppData/Local/Mixxx), in one of the subfolder (make sure to remove the password before sharing)
ok, I fixed the label but no connect. I did open ports 8000 and 8001 in the firewall incoming and outgoing, allowed the app through the firewall. still can't connect but when I run the port checker, it says the ports are still closed. I did restart. ATT support is sending a tech tuesday. It ran a modem diagnostic as soon as I opened the support page and said they were sending.
AT&T tech was stumped. He is looking into a specialist. I put in a support ticket with Chuwi- manufacturer. UAP maybe a typo sorry it's the user account control. I will post the screen shots

Now I'm wondering if the space in host
correctly get trimmed too... Could you edit this file and remove the space between .com
and </host>
while Mixxx is not running, then try starting a live on Mixxx?
You don't need to open your port 8000, only the host need (live365, which is already open)! You just need to make sure you can open a connection there. It looks I could (TCP) connect there so, I would assume they don't use any kind of restrictions on their end.
Ok, I got the time to reproducing your issue.
Using the same host than you (with the space - Ingest.live365.com
), I can see this in the log, same as you do:
debug [ShoutOutput 'gh13300'] ShoutConnection - Using server URL: QUrl("//source@:8000/mixxxtest")
If I remove the space, I see
debug [ShoutOutput 'gh13300'] ShoutConnection - Using server URL: QUrl("//source@ingest.live365.com:8000/mixxxtest")
Please try changing the host as suggested on my previous message. If it doesn't work, please post the log message which contain ShoutConnection - Using server URL:
just to double check.
Looking at src/engine/sidechain/shoutconnection.cpp
, there is definitely further checks we could do on the input, but lets make sure of the fix first.
I think that worked!!! I have to wait for air time to be sure. I connected for a second and stopped. I didn't realize there was a space at the end of the link. I had a different space in the connection label. I will check back in soon today. Thank You so much!!! im a spaz
That's great to hear. And glad I could help. I have created #13328 to track the UX improvement. Hopefully you are able to mixxx live now!
@acolombier we can close this now, right?
I believe so. @J-Marie123 did you manage to go live in the end?
New Windows 11 Home computer can't connect with Mixxx
The test broadcast seems fine. on air button turns green but real broadcast- the On-air button turns yellow then pink and error comes up- can't connect to server. check your connection and verify username and password.. My old windows 8 upgraded to windows 10 connects fine. At&T verified my username and password, synced the modem and assigned a passthrough to my computer. Restarted all devices and programs. I am able to use the internet otherwise however, I still can not stream. At&T said they would open a port or whatever you need if the problem is at their end but they could not find a reason my stream is blocked.
