Users can currently set a 1-5 star rating for each song that is universal throughout all of mixxx playlists and crates. It would be nice to have a second rating for each song that can be set differently per playlist, so you can rate songs in a playlist for that playlist only and still keep the universal rating. This would be nice for playlists that hold a type of song, eg. party mix, car mix, smooth jazz mix, so the songs can be rated for that particular situation or mix.

Example: Name : Rating Song 1 : 5 star Song 2 : 2 star

Playlist 1 Name : Rating : Playlist Rating Song 1 : 5 star : 1 star Song 2 : 2 star : 2 star

Playlist 2 Name : Rating : Playlist Rating Song 1 : 5 star : 3 star Song 2 : 2 star : 5 star

This would be super useful for mood/energy related crates.

In general, it's really useful for have the possibility for multiple rating systems, and this would allow that. For example, you could have a general library rating (semantically "how much do I like this track"), and then a separate "danceable" crate with an independent rating system, and another "popular" crate with it's own ratings, and a "technical" crate with ratings for how musically interesting a track is.

None of those rating systems provide the same information. For example, I could easily have a track that is a 2-star for danceability, but 5-star for popularity, or I could have a track that I really like, which is only marginally danceable.

This would also come in handy for genre-crossing tracks, if you have tracks that are e.g. a bit dubstep (and great) and a bit trap (and just OK), then you could rate them differently in each genre-based crate.

Also, for playlists, ratings would effectively mean "this track worked well at this place in this playlist".

It might also be nice if tracks don't have a global rating, then they get an average rating of all of the creates/playlists they're in. Which would tie in with https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/973145.
