Library Tracks Missing without changes in file system #8926

Open mixxxbot opened 2 years ago

Reported by: ron-granger Date: 2017-08-19T21:57:27Z Status: Fix Committed Importance: Low Launchpad Issue: lp1711867 Tags: library, scanner

I moved a few tracks (6) to another folder, all in the main Mixxx library path /home/fralix/Music/Musik. (Actually moved from /home/fralix/Music/Musik to /home/fralix/Music/Musik/onrequest/dump).

After rescanning the library all tracks were marked as missing except the moved tracks and a few others. (15 in total) One of the first track marked as missing is located under /home/fralix/Music/Musik/onrequest/dump/ABBA - Andante Andante.mp3 (copied from the Mixxx Track Properties) which is still available in the file system! Permission is '-rw-r--r--' while the group doesn't belong to my current user (yet) but that hasn't changed and it worked well before. Also I am able to play the missing tracks and start the AutoDJ with my crates - so Mixxx is definitely able to access the files! Mixxx is at version '2.1.0-alpha-pre (build master r6335)' built by myself.

Workaround is changing the folders (I added a few songs) so Mixxx 'accepts' them again. But the Mixxx library is weird. Sometimes moving files works great and Mixxx updates the path, sometimes the old ones are marked as missing and new library entries are created and sometimes it breaks the whole Mixxx library system ^^

Ok, continued using Mixxx: I added a lot of files. New files are accepted correctly but often old files are then marked as missing - still remaining usable.

Once I had only one missing track at all. Once I had only 7 tracks left in library!

Any idea how to fix it? Is the library profile broken?

Since the report got updated just now, I wanted to inform you, that my library contains 444 tracks marked as missing as of today. Nearly all of them (didn't check all though) are actually available on the disk and I'm able to play them with mixxx. Performing a library rescan increased the amount of missing tracks to 758.

I'm really interested in getting this fixed, so in case you need additional information, I'd be glad to help you out.

Thanks for the update Ron, that doesn't sound good. Are you using the 2.1.4 release version or are you still building from master (2.3 pre-alpha)?

I am currently running the 2.1.5-pre (build 2.1 r6771)

I checked out the 2.1 branch a while ago and I've been pulling from there since.

Should I build another version?

Is it possible that some database is broken for some reason? I didn't test a fresh setup yet ...

Does it still happen with Mixxx 2.2.x?

Well, I am using 2.2.0 and I monitored it recently. It looks like no new tracks are moved to the missing section, but they are still not detected as available, although I can play them.

Didn't reply in time because I wanted to check with a more current version, but apparently didn't get to this in the past 10 months ...

Version 2.2.0 is no longer supported.

Some library scanner had bugs have already been fixed.

I didn't manage to compile a later version due to some dependency issues and moved to Debian testing instead (2.2.4). With the move, I also changed file paths and after Mixxx scanned the whole library again, only those actually missing are shown as missing.

Don't know if the newer version fixed the issue or the change in the paths that forced something ... I think it doesn't make much sense to try and hunt this any more. One other user reported to be affected: If you read this and are still having issues, please comment here, otherwise this can be closed IMO.

Thank you for the support over the years and all your effort building Mixxx. It's awesome!

closing this as the bug seems to be fixed in 2.2.4

2.3 is about to be released. If that bug occurs again, please feel free to reopen.
