I think it would be great that Mixxx interfaces had a direct option to change the timecode type, instead to have to get into the preferences to do it. Imagine, for example, that you are playing live, detect that there is a problem with the A side of your Serato vinyl and want to change to side B. It's a lot of time to get into the preferences to change it!

This sounds like a waste of GUI space for me. However, the use case is valid.

I think it can be better solved by autodetect the vinyl. https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/723800

Is this possible? Can other softwares do this?

The autodetection would be awesome, but I'm afraid that it's very difficult.

Maybe Owen Williams was right and it can be done in the way he said, but I think there are 1, 2 and 3 KHz base tones in the different brands... Could speed be detected without knowing the timecode type then? (DJ turntables and CD players can play the timecode at very different speeds...)

So, I think it would be nice to be able to change quick, at least, the side of the vinyl (or a closer way in preferences, or a keyboard shortcut and just show "A" or "B" in the middle of the timecode control analyzer graphic, for example). The automatic goal is so far, I'm afraid.

I'll tell about this in that bug as well.
