The preview deck uses the 'headphone' sound device. Did you configure one in Preferences > Sound Hardware > Output tab ?

If you've set up a device and it still doesn't work, we need to know your OS and Mixxx version to help.

I tried setting the headphone but it's giving me an error (see screenshot link). Perhaps it's because I have one set as a Master?
I'm on Windows 10. Where can I see what Mixx version I have?

Sasha, you have to use different sound devices for master and headhhone

To clarify: you CAN use the same sound device for master, headphone and whatever, you just need to assign different channels to the different output streams. For example many basic controllers already supply 4 channels output: 1-2 for master, 3-4 for headphone

The small preview play button to the left of each track does not work when it used to. It doesn't play any sound. The tracks work if I actually queue them and play them, but not with previews anymore. Not sure why it chose to stop working.
