To Do

Searched https://scholar.google.com for скважина температуры ледника (ru: glacier temperature borehole). Searched https://scholar.google.com for 冰川温度钻孔 (zh: glacier temperature borehole). Followed references found therein.

To Do (not found online)

Possible updates

Skip: Greenland Ice Sheet

Skip: Antarctic Ice Sheet

Skip: Other

These may contain references to englacial temperature data but no measurements, may contain measurements already included from a more direct or complete source, or may have been rejected for another reason.

This looks like a neat effort. I found it from the issue you opened at https://github.com/GEUS-Glaciology-and-Climate/greenland_ice_borehole_temperature_profiles/issues/50 .

I note above that you have "Skip: Greenland Ice Sheet". I am curious why? Is there something I can do with https://github.com/GEUS-Glaciology-and-Climate/greenland_ice_borehole_temperature_profiles to help this effort?

Also tagging @BaptisteVandecrux who collects Greenlandic firn temperature profiles - there may be some useful data listed above.

@mankoff We decided to skip the two ice sheets because you've already put together a similar dataset for the Greenland Ice Sheet, and there is SUMup (https://doi.org/10.18739/A2M61BR5M) for both ice sheets. So we focused on all the other glaciers instead, for which no such dataset yet exists – and this was plenty to keep us busy! The list in this issue is very incomplete, we've pulled data from 245 sources so far (see full list in data/source.csv).

Makes sense. Some of the data in our recent paper is outside of the ice sheet - peripheral ice caps or even Arctic Canada. Let me know if I can help with any of that.

@mankoff Thanks for your offer to help, but I think we're all set. All of the boreholes in your dataset that are outside of the ice sheet are also in glenglat. We pulled data directly from the original publications, except in three cases where we cite your dataset as a source: Renland88, PrinceWales05, Penny96. It seems likely these were never published, and thus are only available via personal communication.

@mjacqu I'm closing this issue. We've done what we can with regards to exhuming data from the literature, and going forward, we can always start a new issue to keep track of newly-published studies that need to be added.
