Refactor the api/v1 endpoints into simpler modules #21

The 'api/v1' endpoints were intended to act as both endpoints for javascript and post endpoints for form submissions, but that seems needlessly complicated and probably difficult to do. Additionally, this would resolve #11 because it would no longer be necessary to update cookies from a deeply nested path.
