Cannot run BLAST comparison on Windows 10 #25

Hello,

I have downloaded EasyFig 2.2.4. I am using BLAST+ version 2.2.3 32-bit windows. I am on windows 10. When I compare two embl formatted files that have annotation and sequence, I get only the fasta files created, but no comparison files. Please advice.

Hi Abhijit,

I'm told there is a problem with the new BLAST+, I'll try fix it over the weekend.

Hi Mitch,

Did this ever get resolved? I am on Windows 10 trying to compare two .gbk files and have the same problem. Seems to be an issue with Blast.

Hi, I still have the same issue where my BLAST comparison file is not created. Is there any solution?

I have not tried running the linux version. Does it have the same issue? Has anyone tried?

I got it to work on a Mac using EasyFig_2.2.2_OSX. I couldn't get it to work on Windows 10 OS.

Also, I got some same issue.

In installation, https://github.com/mjsull/Easyfig/wiki/Installation

They talk that there is some known issue running compiled versions of python applications on windows/mac os x. If Easyfig does not run using the above methods we recommend running Easyfig as Python scripts.

Hi all,

Sorry about taking so long, unfortunately I don't have as much time as I'd like to maintain my software.

The new version should hopefully fix issues with Windows 10 and BLAST.

If someone could test it and update me here I will close this issue.

Hi, Thank you for the update. I tried and when generating blastn files everything looks good but when generating tblastx files, I get a blast file but it is empty....

Hello All,

Please find attached a screenshot of the latest version of Easyfig 2.2.5 run on Windows 10. I installed the latest version of blast+ 2.10 on the windows machine. As you see in the image "blastn" ran. However, the output file is empty. It does not show on the list.

Is it possible to run the files "1.easyfig.fa" and "2.easyfig.fa" on linux and visualize the ".out" file in the windows version? Or does this still need the input .fa files

You can try the tool ACT. That will generate the comparison files. Conversely try an earlier version of easyfig for windows version 2.2.2. This works perfectly.

Use Easyfig 2.2.2 with blast+ version 2.7.1. Works on windows 10 and 7
