Why usage of icingaweb2, instead of API ?

Hi,

sorry to disturb you again. What was the reason to choose icingaweb2 as source and authentification, instead of API ?

It came into my mind, because our policy is, to change the password all 3month (very annoying). Also to have my pasword in cleartext .... :-)
