Project Update: Week #8 #8

Discussion:

  1. Discussed the Wireframing we're working on using Figma.
  2. Discussed our HTML and CSS for our website. Uploaded our files to the server under Renee's guidance.
    1. Use a single CSS for whole website
    2. Discussed using SSI for common navigation bar. Our current HTML markup has a nav bar with the functionality of avoiding links to the current page. Using SSI might remove that functionality (or would add the redundant function of navigation to the same page)
    3. Looked at open-source images we could use at background or decoration.
  3. Discussed use of MALLET for topic modelling
  4. Discussed uploading images to server so we don’t rely on pulling images from a URL link.

    Next Week:

    MK: Discuss how to use MALLET in office hours and start writing up texts to put into our HTML. Austin: Continue working on CSS. Send MK write-up introducing himself for the website. Aisha: Continue working on HTML and think about how to structure the reading view for our Texts page. Send MK write-up introducing herself for the website.

Hi! I'm enjoying reading all of your project updates so far, especially because my group and I are pretty much on the same page right now. I like how you're using a single CSS for the whole website, especially because it'll give the site a uniform look. It might be worth considering different css for some chunks of the site to make them stand out.

This made me realize that we should also probably upload images to server because we wanted to create portraits of all the blues singers in our corpus. Please let me know how using MALLET goes, it was something we were considering! Excited to see your project at the end of the semester, it sounds really interesting.
