I think the "current maintainers" section should exactly state who are the current maintainers (listing the people in the core team probably? not sure). Additionally, we could have a historical section listing the persons who were maintainers in the past but not anymore :slightly_smiling_face: Or we could also drop all this and let people check contributions on GitHub: https://github.com/mkdocs/mkdocs/graphs/contributors :shrug:

Yep, that'd be a fantastic alternative.
The Maintenance Team section within the Release Notes page is mentioning Oprypin as a Team member. Since he now left MkDocs it would be good to update the docs accordingly to reflect on this.
However, to honor the work he did, I propose that instead of removing his name from the page, instead put him in a "Retired Team Member" section to show that they have resigned.
