How do I toggle the sidebar?

How do I toggle the sidebar? If this isnt already possible would you consider adding a keyboard shortcut for this (perhaps ctrl+b)

Does the dock distract you?

Yes it does, and it also takes up a certain amount of space

If I may ask, what OS do you use?

Would it be okay if the sidebar would be say half of current width?

On macOS, the sidebar contains window buttons (close, minimize, maximize):

I use Linux; Ubuntu 20.04

The same in Windows 10 - there are no window buttons, no menu:

I just bought Parallels -- virtualization software, so I can test Windows and Linux versions. This is my top priority right now.
