What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
newest deb package, installed with ubuntu software center

Please provide any additional information below.
I keep getting a warning that says....not a member of the group. I am a member
of the video group as is my husband, no go on his machine either. I even
joined this group thinking this was the problem. Software loads but nothing
works.

Any suggestions. Would love to try it. Thanks.

Need to fix that video group popup. Can you validate what happens when running
from the command line "webcamstudio"?

0.57 Beta 2 should fix this. Can you validate?

I tried beta 2. It still doesn't work.

Running from the command line:
$ webcamstudio
Using JRE: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin
Module webcamstudio is not loaded...
OS is Linux
Starting iWebcamera Detection...

I get a warning pop-up "The module webcamstudio is not loaded. Virtual webcam
will not be available..."

Hmmm, seems that the new module is not installing in 10.10...

In "/usr/share/webcamstudio/webcamstudio-src", the source for the module is
there...

Copy the content of that folder in a "tmp" folder of your choice.
Compile the source from a console using "make" on a command line.

Post the results...
