* mlem shows low quality/res images #1438

Describe the bug What did you do to trigger the bug? Opened an image

Expected Behavior What did you expect to happen? A high quality image to be displayed

Actual Behavior What actually happened? A low res version of the image was shown

To Reproduce What steps do I need to take to trigger the bug? Using this thread https://sh.itjust.works/post/27794038 I looked at the image in mlem on my iPhone, I also opened the same thread in safari and in safari the image was much higher resolution.

Mlem Information: Version + Build number 2.0(138) If this started happening recently, write which version introduced the bug Unsure when the bug started, I have not been keeping up on my comics.

I'm having a little trouble reproducing this one.

I can repro it for that post using lemmy.ml. The image loads at the correct resolution on sh.itjust.works.

It's possibly related to image prozying? The image loads at the high resolution on the lemmy.ml lemmy-ui frontend, so I think it's our problem rather than theirs. https://lemmy.ml/post/22278309

  • Does the image resolution improve when you navigate into the post or open the image viewer?

No, I have tried from my feed as well as going into the post (I recall an issue I reported that one way worked and the other did not). I have tried touching on the image and using quick view.

i went to the same post on sopuli itself https://sh.itjust.works/post/27794038

and in safari it is fine there as well as on its home instance.

I logged into my lemm.ee account and it is displaying fine there in mlem. It displays fine in safari on sopuli, but not in mlem. I cleared my cache in mlem, swiped it away, and tried again with no improvement.
