Hello i would like to know if you have the intention of uploading this extension to the edge (chromium edition curently in alpha) on the microsoft store ?

Thanks in advance

At the moment there are no plans to support Chromium Edge or add the plugin to the Microsoft Store. That may change when the browser is officially released and if there's a significant user base.

The main reason I would like to avoid supporting it: I don't have a Windows machine to test with and do zero Windows development. But, I do use Windows VM's for testing security issues, so it's plausible to support it.

If Microsoft doesn't change the browser internals too much the plugin should just work, but that's a big if.

I should clarify that the plugin works great in Chromium (the full open source version of Chrome). That's what I personally use as my main desktop browser - although I should really switch to Firefox.

if you want (and if you decide to upload it to microsoft store) i can test if it work (but it seems edge chromium will be available to mac os and linux too).

Yes, I actually forgot about that! If/when it becomes available for Linux I'll be much more inclined to experiment and test with it. So, let's keep this bug open for now and see what happens.

It seems they're planning on doing a linux release. I guess the other question will be: Microsoft Edge is coming to Linux. But will anybody use it?

some will surely use it on linux, but not as many as chrome i think

Thanks for the info! This seems like an acceptable workaround IMHO for people using Edgeium. I'm looking at some bugfixes now, and will include a note in the README.md about Edgeium on the next release.

For the time being, I'm still not officially supporting Edge, but if it works then I have no issues with people using it.

@mlgualtieri since it's done can i close this issue or i let it open (some use issue as a reminder so i prefer ask)

mlgualtieri commented 4 years ago

Let's keep it open for now. It's not actually in the store, so this will help any users that want to install it. And, maybe eventually I'll add to the store.

@mlgualtieri now the upload on edge store is easy (but i think you must have a Microsoft dev account) if you want, i can add it to the store with this GitHub repository as website and add on the description on this Microsoft store page, that you are the main dev, and i only upload without modification of this extension.

I propose this because i have a Microsoft Dev account.

Microsoft did send me an invitation to submit it to their store. I'm only hesitant as it would create more support issues, and I'm not really sure how many people use Edge or would want to use this plugin on Edge. There is a path for installation now for those who wish to use it, so I'm going to postpone any official Edge submission for the time being.
