I do not see the problem right now: The invitation email is just a notification about a new group, there is no link with special functionality embedded. The user should log in regularily an will find a new group which he or she can approve or decline. This option is provided for some time, two weeks, if I recall correctly. After that time, the option expires and a new invitation should be sent. During that time, a simple login should do. Maybe I missed something?
Invitation has not been accepted by the user. The group was not visible anymore at the next(?) login. This may have happened for our user after the ''two weeks'' time frame. Since the user was still listed as a potential group member, I was unable to resend invitation or remove the user from the group. How about a ''one week'' time frame?
Users with high e-mail load ignore invitation link and therefore have no access to the group. One cannot remove people who have not accepted the invitation in order to invite them again. Users who used the etherpad group link in the invitation e-mail but did not accept the invitation via the check mark cannot access the group's pads a second time. It looks the invitation link only works once (we made no effort to reproduce that). Suggested problem solution: Remove people from the group who have not accepted an invitation (after 72? hours). Thanks for your consideration.
