deleted events returned in API call #319

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. changing a value in one instance of a recurring event
2. calling event list from the api

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Events stop updating in the API, display incorrectly, and/or continue to be 
included in API after having been deleted.
