SlimDX SDK (January 2012) install hangs

Environment:  Win 7 sp1, .net 4.0

Installer comes up but hangs on progress bar at the start.

I ran msiexec in verbose mode.  Last set of entries is:

End of July 2014 M$ Black Tuesday update broke LOTS of installers.
Uninstall KB2918614 so that overlapping I/O works again
