CEC deck controls fail with tv sets from LG #534

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect Chromecast to a tv set from LG, which supports CEC (or Simplink)
2. Play a YouTube-Video or Google Music on your Chromecast
3. Try to pause the video

* What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Nothing happen, even though the lg supports CEC

* What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

LG 42LS560S and a Chromecast with firmware 27946

* Please provide any additional information below.

This is a follow up on
https://code.google.com/p/google-cast-sdk/issues/detail?id=93:

I've got a LG 42LS560S and a Chromecast with firmware 27946. The tv understands
CEC (or Simplink in the LG naming universe). Together with OpenELEC and a
Raspberry Pi I use the tv remote to control the kodi mediacenter. But the
chromecast is still a no go, even though the firmware is up to date.

The LG doesn't detect the Chromecast as a CEC device and so play/pause with
YouTube or other google apps doesn't work. Other users with LG tvs report the
same problem, so I guess there's a incompatibility between LG tvs and
Chromecast.

Same for me, using 42LG6100 and Chromecast with firmware 27946

no detection of the chromecast as CEC at all, bluray player is recognized on
the same hdmi input as CEC.

Can you submit a Cast feedback report for the LG TV when pressing the buttons?
https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3187017?hl=en
Make sure to prefix it with the issue number.

I have an LG 47LK520 TV that supports HDMI CEC (Simplink) and after turning
Simplink on I can also not use the play/pause buttons with Google Play Music. I
have sent Feedback via the chromecast app too, prefixed with "issue 534".

I got a LG52LD550, it is also CEC compliant but i read that it is only
compatible with LG simplink... I guess it's the same with a lot of LG TVs (sad
news for us).

I have a LG 47LM6200-UE with Chromecast ver 27946. As far as I can tell, the TV
remote play/pause buttons works for YouTube videos cast from within Chrome
browser. When I try the same using the YouTube app on my nexus 4 it does not
seem to work.

I have a lg lh3000. I tested my raspberry pi which is recognised by simplink.
I am quite surprised why this issue hasn't been dealt with a while ago as I
have seen a lot of people with the same issue all over the net.

Here the [Play]/[Pause] buttons aren’t working either. TV model is LG
nnLD465, Chromecast firmware 38401. To be more precise, Chromecast:
- DOES turn on the TV (if TV in standby, and of course with the Chromecast
powered externally not from the USB port).
but:
- IS NOT recognized as a HDMI-CEC device when turning ‘Simplink’ on (this
is the same as was seen in the video from comment #5, but now that video
isn’t available anymore),
- DOES NOT label the input to something specific, it remains just the default
HDMIn,
- DOES NOT switch inputs to the one the CC is connected to,
- DOES NOT respond to any TV remote control keys.

I have sent 2 feedback reports, both prefixed with ‘[Issue 543]LG HDMI-CEC’.

The first was after scanning for HDMI-CEC devices.
More precisely: Chromecast in standby (displaying landscapes) - press
[SimpLink] on the TV remote to show a menu - [Right] to turn SimpLink off (it
was on) - [Right] again to turn it back on - something spinning on the screen -
TV finds nothing, none of the icons in the menu (‘Watch TV’/ ‘Disc’/
‘VCR’/ ‘HDD Recorder’/ ‘Speaker’) are lit. I suppose this is the
base problem, if Chromecast is not seen as a HDMI-CEC device then I guess it
won’t receive any HDMI-CEC messages.

The second is after pressing the [Pause] - [Play] - [Stop] - [Rewind] -
[FastForward] - [Subtitle] buttons (all of these are in the ‘Simplink’
area), twice each, on the TV remote control while playing a YouTube video using
Chromecast.

Sorry, the prefix should begin with ‘[Issue 534] ...’, I hope I typed it
wrong only here and not in the feedback report...
