To do be able to upload biodiversity data for any taxonomic group you need a Master List of species for the group. The GBIF data I sent you for a few groups are species lists of taxa per group harvested from GBIF. This can be used as a starting point for generating the master list of taxa for each Group.
The data set tracker is used for listing, managing and reporting on progress of each dataset. SO for example, the GBIF Bird Species.xlsx should be checked against existing bird lists, consult with Rwandan bird experts, if they exist, and be transcribed into the RBIS Master List of Taxa Template.xlsx, which you then rename RBIS Master List of Birds Template.xlsx. You should attempt to complete all the columns, see descriptions in the Data management guidelines 2020 05 22.pdf.
The bird species that you consolidate into the RBIS Bird Data Upload Template.xlsx, all need to be added to the RBIS Master List of Birds Template.xlsx so that each bird species in the data file, exist s in the Master file so that data can be ingested to FBIS.
The Master List of Birds will also then allow you to harvest occurrence data for birds in Rwanda from GBIF. During your training with Dimas, you will be shown how to harvest GBIF data.
@helendallas do we need to work on the GBID data?
