Inability to Tether to OS X with WEP enabled #1303

Which device (manufacturer, type)?

Motorola Droid X2

Which firmware is installed?

Eclipse 1.3

What version of wireless tether are you using?

both 3.1 beta 7 and 9

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Set Device-Profile to Droid X in wifi tether
2.Enable Encryption
3.Encryption method set to auto
4.Set passphrase
5.Turn on Tether
6.Try to connect with OS X (both a 10.7.2 Macbook Air and a 10.6.8 Macbook Pro
were tested)
7.OS X does not ask for a password, self assigns an IP after ~15 seconds

When reproducing the following steps with Windows 7 64bit instead of OS X, I
found that I was able to connect to an Encrypted connection with no problems at
all.

When reproducing the following steps with Encryption disabled, both of my Macs
were able to connect.

Found a solution.

Under Change Setup-Method in settings, select "WEXT (ad-hoc)" instead of
"Auto". WEP now works for OSX.

Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier.
