Provide gateway access via another AP #139

It would be nice to be able to connect the G1 to an existing Access Point
and have it provide DHCP/NAT services to other clients on that access point.

This would mitigate most of the annoyances regarding lack of AP mode
support. It would also give a very convenient backup internet access
solution for your entire LAN by having everything connect out through wifi
to your phone.

i agree. even just 'connect-to-existing-wifi-net & provide gateway access thru
phone's wlan ip' would suffice. i dont normally run dhcp services on my lan,
and would intend on re-natting via my linux gw box for security & consistancy's
sake.

This should be relatively easy to implement since all the necessary features
should be in the code. Rather than taking over the existing wifi connection,
simply enable the NAT hosting of the existing connection. It would also be nice
to be able to disable the DHCP host in case another already exists on the
network.

Maybe this is a good chance for me to get the Android SDK up and running and
try patching the code myself!

This would be a great asset of a feature to have in this project, for the
purposes of growth on internet / interweb / wireless broadband capabilities; as
some for some consumers there Android is the only source of internet
connectivity for them, that they may have. Examples would be those that are
month to month pre-paid unlimited data plan connect carrier Android phones...
*need not mention various carrier ids/names
