It begins like its going to tether but never releases wifi signal to connect to.

Erase any previous one,  Clean cache and install again and then just choose 
sgs3 on profile,  mss clamping,  and routing fix.  That's what I did and it 
still working good.  Thanks Trevo again

As a tip, I disabled then froze Sprint Optimizer using Titanium.

If it's not working for you individuals, try using Super SU and not superuser.

I have been trying the TrevE mod with no success until I saw #60's comment.  I 
installed SuperSU and now things are working, even on the Odexed stock rooted 
build.  Thanks jayhuffd!

I installed this latest version (thanks for posting) and also installed SuperSU.

I originally had it configured for encryption. It never broadcasted any SSID 
that my laptop could pick up.

Then I disabled encryption. My laptop can now see the SSID, but it cannot 
connect.

Then I enabled encryption again. My laptop can still see the SSID, and the icon 
shows that the laptop detected that it requires a passkey now, but it still 
cannot connect, even with the correct passkey.

I just now rebooted and tried again, with encryption enabled. The SSID is 
broadcasted, but Windows still cannot connect.

Clarification on #66: the laptop never prompts me for a passkey. I was assuming 
it was reusing the passkey from last time I tethered.

Just tried it from a different laptop (both Windows 7 x64, one personal, one 
corporate), and get same results. Never asked for passphrase; Windows just 
terminates connection with "Windows was unable to connect to [network SSID]".

The build in #64 doesn't work with _or_ without encryption. Either way, my 
corporate (centrally managed) and personal laptops give the "Windows was unable 
to connect to [network SSID]" error.

I install CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip and this TreE Mod, work flawlessly, now I can

Running the Nov 17th build of TrevE mod and it is working without encryption 
just fine. All default settings except I enabled Access Control for a little 
security. However, you HAVE to download Super SU or it won't work.

All of a sudden, I am able to tether. At one time, I did select "Install 
Samsung Binaries", and I am not sure I had a proper root on JB when I did it. 
Not sure if that made a difference. I just a few minutes ago did "Re)-Install 
binaries/configs" which is available when you hit the bottom left button while 
in Settings. That may have made a difference.

Yeah, I lost the tethering ability right after I made my post.  Now I can no 
longer find the trev E icon to open the app. When I try to re--download, I get 
a message stating app already installed.

Ok this new one here works for me using encryption.  My suggestion is to 
uninstall any previous versions of the tether app before installing this.  That 
is the only way I could get this one to work w/or w/out encryption.

of this project now (since yesterday - he is committer).

When I try to update WiFi tether app to Trev E, I'm receiving an app not 
installed error:  package with same name different signature already installed. 
Any suggestions on how to clear this?

+92, you cannot update, you have to completely uninstall previous version, wipe 
cache, and install latest version. Make sure you use superSU for root 
permission.

@93:  Makes since.  I had tried to uninstall just by accessing it through my 
list of installed apps, which didn't give the uninstall option.  I will try 
using the method you posted. (I do already have superSU installed.)  Thanks so

I'm not sure what you mean. why would you want to have both wifi tether and the 
phones wifi running at the same time? if the phone is able to connect to a wifi 
network, your devices should also so there would be no need to tether.
