Aside from your unnecessary remarks, I have the same problem.
- Tethering on 4.1 worked great.
- Tethering on 4.2 worked fine for every device of mine, except my Playstation
Vita.
- Tethering on 4.3 is the same as 4.2.
I'm off to downgrade back to 4.1 again. =[

Galaxy nexus here, stopped working after 4.3 update. Bluetooth tether does work
though. My tablet seems to connect but I can't do anything.

Along with everyone else, after 4.3 update I am unable to use any wireless
tethering on my Nexus 4. I flashed back to 4.2.2 and everything seems to work
just fine but something in the 4.3 update killed both my native (from system
settings) and also this tethering app. Thank you for all the work you put in
and hopefully this is remedied when you get the opportunity.

Worked around 4.3 tethering issue by installing Chrome plug-in User-Agent

Same issue here. can't use 4.3 gnex to tether wifi hotspot to my psvita only.
other devices work well...
i have another 4.1.2 samsung i9300, and the tether works perfectly on my psvita.

... for tethering. Both 4.2 and 4.3 have a lot of nice features that I'd love
to use (namely Group Texting on 4.2), but being able to tether to my Vita
trumps all of niceties of 4.2 and 4.3. =[
Hopefully this can be fixed, but I'm not necessarily sure it's this app's
fault... likely more so some core change in the operating system itself.
Hopefully some smart folks can figure it out.

@10/ demonzoo
Do you know how to use Wireshark? Another developer suggested I use it to
analyze the difference between what happens when the Vita connects to a 4.1
tether and a 4.2 tether, but I only have access to 1 device and doubt I could
figure out anything w/ Wireshark.

@fabio, is your app intended to work with android-wifi-tether? Meaning, am I
supposed to run your app first, click unlock, and then run android-wifi-tether?
Does anyone have 4.2/4.3 w/ a Vita that can test this? I'm downgraded to 4.1
and don't have the time right now to upgrade and try it out.

No, i tried that app, but the tether still didn't work on my psvita.
I did exactly as #15 said, ran the app, clicked unlock, then started my stock
wifi tether. psvita still couldn't reach internet.
I'm using android 4.3, psvita 2.61

Not me sadly. I think for ps vita it might have to be sony that needs to
update. But seen how there is the 3g models i dont think it will be in
there best interest to allow tethering to work on vitas that you could pay
ATT a plan for

@23 I don't agree that it's on Sony to fix... I have my Galaxy Nexus tethering
fine with v4.1. If I upgrade to 4.2 or 4.3, it stops working. It's definitely
a software thing, but it's most likely on Google's end. I think us posting on
this app's board is essentially useless, but I don't know where to report
issues w/ the Android operating system.
Original comment by lang...@gmail.com

It's not on google's end, it's obviously this software. There were internal
changes that were probably made that this app hasn't coded for.
Original comment by hoozdap...@gmail.com

@25 As best I can tell, that's not the case.
Back when 4.2 came out, issue #1661 was created
(https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=1661) because
tethering broke from 4.1 to 4.2. The provided patch that got it working (reply
#98) didn't change much of anything. I spoke to the guy who patched it and he
had the following to say:
---
The MSS clamping on the GNEX fails because it does not support it; the
change I made there was to reflect that correctly so that wifi-tether
doesn't try to enable it and fail (which results in the tether stats
not displaying).
tether.interface appears to be rendered unnecessary in the version of
ndc shipped with 4.2; apparently, it was redundant with the wifi
interface.
If your laptop works, but not your ps vita, then it'd be something on
the vita side not correct, perhaps it saved incorrect DNS, or gateway
settings, try disabling those. For further investigation, it's
probably a good idea to tether both your laptop and psvita at the same
time, and run a packet capture app on the laptop to see what the
psvita is trying to do, or if it's even tethered at all. Try deleting
the connection in the psvita and re-adding it; also make sure access
control in wifi-tether is configured correctly, perhaps try disabling
it, or allowing the psvita access.

Yes other places said that the newer upgrades handle tether traffic
differently. But the devices that had these no internet access issues ,
those got updates to allow it to continue to function like they used too.
Take the chrome book for example those had the same exact issue as the vita
and with an update they are now ok.
I cant remember what exactly the change on the tether was but its
definitely not going to be changed by android seeing how its only happening
with very very very few device models ( the vita is the only thing affected
that i know of) the problem is practically non existing so sadly droid has
no reason to try to fix it just for one device. Now if it was happening to
a crap load of stuff then yeah Google would look bad and make it a priority
to fix. So i think its sony that has to do something about it. Even though
android obviously changed something and tether now doesn't work ( pretty
much only doesn't work on vita) , so sony has to work on that. its their
device that cant acces any kind of online connectivity on a tether signal
that all other devices have no problems using.
Sorry for the long and poorly typed post

Hey... this setting are automatic...
and... SCE japan is really suck they said "we would like to inform you that due
to the different language,
voltage standards and the system issues, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
has implemented a territorial-based distribution and support system for its
hardware, software, peripherals and network services.
For the above reason, we SCEJ do not guarantee the proper operation of
Japanese model PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) to be used outside Japan."
WTF! now who could help me?

Has anyone made any progress on this problem? I am having the same issue
getting my PlayStation Vita to connect to my Galaxy Nexus correctly. I am able
to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot, and I am able to obtain an IP address. The
tests pass up until it gets to the PSN.
Galaxy Nexus (Verizon): Android 4.2.2
My phone is rooted, but seemingly anything I try doesn't work. I've tried
everything in this post except reverting to an older Android version or
changing IP tables, as every other device on the hotspot can access the network
just fine.
