Which device (htc,hero)?

Which firmware is installed?
2.1
What version of wireless tether are you using?
2.5 pre2
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.adding in a udp passthrough for xbl and psn
2.you could also try adding a UPnP for xbl
3.and fix the bug "on stop of wireless tethering with a custom kernel the phone
freezes and have to pull battery"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
to be able to connect to xbox live with a NAT type of open
Please provide any additional information below.
if you fix these two issues this will be the best app on the market
in my opinion of course

I've noticed this problem on PS3 as well, and it is a big problem. More often
than not I have to leave the match making process and go back a couple times
before a match will ever get found.

My Xbox lags and it is vary frustrating. It needs an open nat or something.

Well. I think we would have to implement port-forwarding and/or DMZ. The
biggest problem is that most kernels don't support needed features!

Open nat would be cool to achieve while wifi tethering, but I would like to be
able to interact with some sort of GUI interface by typing my android's gateway
address in to a browser's url box on my pc. But please get on this. Playing
xbox live while utilizing the internet that my phone produces would be more
magical than the fact that I can stream netflix in HD off of the MyTouch 4g.

droid 2 has no new kernels so im screwed.

Looks like we would need to add UPnP-support ...
http://www.daishar.com/blog/archives/2005/01/xbox_live_linux.html

I'm not sure if that includes portforwarding as well.

The question is ... what do I need to do? Portforwarding AND UPnP?

Original comment by harald....@gmail.com on 27 Jan 2011 at 2:22

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I think UPnP is a type of port forwarding, or am I wrong.

Original comment by xthebegi...@gmail.com on 27 Jan 2011 at 5:28

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
UPnP is a type of Port Forwarding, if UPnP Support is added, not only will XBL
work 10x better, but it also opens the possibilities of Remote Play for the PSP
from the PS3.

@harold.mue Enabling UPnP would open up the ability to play games. BUT...
having a port forwarding feature like most routers would allow more than just
gaming and would also cover the UPnP issue. The XBL support website has the
description on how to open ports for routers that don't have the UPnP feature.
So if you could get port forwarding to work, that would take care of it for now.

I used to be able to play with nat open. Not sure how. Then one day it switched
to moderate. I didn't change any settings, I think. But I can't reproduce the
open nat no matter what I try.

I have a Samsung Charge (SCH-I510) and I use FoxFi for my tethering app. I
have one of the newer 'slim' Xbox 360 consoles and I connect directly to FoxFi
using the built in wireless capabilities of the Xbox 360. I always have an
open NAT when using this configuration.
However, if I connect the Xbox 360 to the internet through my laptop using a
network cable and internet conenction sharing (which I used to do before I
started using FoxFi and have to do with my older console) I will always have a
moderate NAT.

For the love of all that is holy please implement these features. Xbox live is
worthless when I'm traveling and tethered with my phone. Does anyone know any
other apps (foxfi does not work on cm10 on epic touch)?

I have found that if you go into the Network Settings and to Automatic
Settings, copy down the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway, then go to Manual
settings, put in the Subnet and Gateway exactly as it shows, but on the IP
Address, add just one number to the end, that should set the NAT to Open when
you enter and Test Connection.

Do you mean (for example) changing the last section of the ip address from a
say.... 106 to a 107? Because if so, I still have Nat issues

Im also searching for a solution to this problem... I am a root user and I have
SU access... I have tried a few hotspot port forwarding apps but they dont work
and have no instructions... having options like UPNP DMZ or an option to open
all ports would be so useful I cant belive there is no current method unless it
is impossible on current devices... kernals are a mute point as terminal can be
used to create custom commands.

Most important note... all ports can be opened and forwarded thru mifi/wifi
hotspot gateways/routers using 4g. some are free thru verizon... so if they can
open ports and use UPNP then an android phone can as well...

Would love to see a solution as well.. I'm pretty sure Verizon phone service
has a set NAT behind everything, so all this upnp/forwarding wouldn't work
anyway if we had it.. kind of like a double NAT with a modem to router setup,
you fix everything on the router but the NAT on the modem screws it up so you
have to bridge the modem

problem is, we can't 'bridge' the phone service
