Which device (manufacturer, type)? Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant / Galaxy Tablet/ 
And a laptop

Which firmware is installed?

What version of wireless tether are you using?latest pre-release

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.enabled wireless teather on my rooted stock galaxy vibrant successful
2.My wireless laptop saw the network and was able to connect
3.my galaxxy tablet does not even see the network.

Android is not set to see Ad-Hoc networks..try loading up a wpa_suplicant that 
supports ad-hoc on your tablet and it will work..(you need to be rooted on your 
tablet)

If you see "obtaining an IP address" endlessly after you connect, set static 
ips on both the phone and the tablet.

Versions 3 should work with tablets now.
