Which device (manufacturer, type)?
HTC Hero CDMA
Which firmware is installed?
Cyanogen 6.1 Stable
What version of wireless tether are you using?
wifi_tether_v3_0-pre9.apk
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Clicking on the screen to start tether.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected to not get any errors. But there were three errors total.
Please provide any additional information below.
wifi_tether_v3_0-pre9.apk starts tethering with 3 errors. One of them I know is
an adhoc error. like from top to bottom, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th items have
errors. But version 2_0_6 works fine. ON MY phone, wifi_tether_v3_0-pre9.apk
works great! And I have a Samsung Transform.

Yes, known issue. Version 3 of the app is a complete rewrite and doesn't
currently support all devices version 2 does. It will be added but it that
takes some time ...

thank you Herald! I am not complaining, if an older version works, she will
just have to keep that one installed. Thanks for the pretty quick reply! Like I
said, 2_0_6 works and I thought about trying out the new 2_0_7 but she won't
hardly ever let me use her phone and 3.0 pre9 works just fine on my Samsung
Transform M920. With every upgrade, I pray for a version of Wifi Tether that is
a true hotspot and supports things like the PS3. Thanks!

Same problem here with Inc running CM7.

207pre1 works just fine... but no luck with 30pre9 useing the Evo preset. Any ideas on what other presets might work? Im thinking Desire cdma.

please be patient. dream/sapphire/hero/heroc/eris support will come to version
3 but it takes some time.

btw. the evo has a complete different wifi-chip built in (broadcom versus ti) -
so that can't work!

@wwjosh ... wrong setup I would guess. are you using the "HTC Hero"
device-profile? And make sure the setup-method is set to "Auto".

I've tested it on a HTC Magic which has the same wifi-chip built-in like the
hero has!

The screenshot you have uploaded tells me that you are using "WEXT" (wireless
extension) as "setup-method" (which is also chosen if you select "Generic" in
device-profile). Anways ... device-profile to "HTC Hero" and setup-method to
"Auto" should do the trick.

OOOOHHHHHH! I didn't think to check the device profile! lol. I don't typically
change settings. I just install updates and click start tethering and cross my
fingers for no errors! Thanks for the heads up! I will have to steal my wife's
phone when she isn't looking, and try that! I see 4 samsung phones, but I don't
see one for the Samsung Transform M920. I have it set to Auto on my transform
and it works. So I guess that's all that matters, right?

I am PLEASED to report that this works and I will definitely donate after I
move and figure out how much I have left! Thanks! Who should the donation go to?
