Hello. wcap has been an invaluable tool for me. I would like to request three additional features. I would appreciate it if you would consider any one of them.

1.To improve the recording audio quality, please consider adding a 256kbps option.

2.I would appreciate it if you could add an option to display a small indicator in the corner of the monitor to show that recording is in progress.

3.When recording a window, please add an option to create a folder with the window name in the output folder and save the recording as a file named with the window name and date.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

  1. I believe 192kbps is max Microsoft AAC encoder officially supports. Other values are not documented. Maybe that's a legacy from old systems and nowadays it works, but I'm not sure. I can check what happens with higher bitrates. But currently you need to use FLAC if you want higher quality audio.

  2. Is yellow border not enough for recording indication? The systray icon is also changed when recording is progress. Are you asking for one more indicator - so there will be 3 different ones? That sounds like a lot, hah.

  3. That's a good suggestion and I was thinking about this for a while - to have ability customize filename. I'll probably add text field in settings dialog where user can enter file name or subfolder location in arbitrary way. Only problem I was having is to decide on what to put as name when recording is happening not on window, but on whole monitor or just region of screen.

Thank you for your reply.

  1. I see, the upper limit of the setting is 192kbps. I understand. Unfortunately, I will use 192kbps.

  2. I made the above suggestion because when I record a full-screen window, I can't see the icons in the system tray, and the yellow border on the edge of the screen makes me feel a little oppressive.

  3. I'm not sure if this is possible, but I think it would be a good idea to create a folder with the name of the window when recording a window, and create a folder with the name of the window that is active at the time of recording when recording is to be recorded if you are recording something other than a window. After that, it's up to the user to sort the files.

Thank you for your time.
