web best for: -breaking news -research and finding answers to specific questions -interactive learning -retain access control (lower value)
Book best for: -long reads (keeps place and has linear structure) -training on new topic (where all info applicable) -disconnecting and focusing (either because of forced or optional disconnection, either way distances you from distractions, especially print) -grants more ownership and value
Books have: -implied self-contained -because paid, implied it’s purpose is to provide value not up sell something else -implied research because can’t be recalled to fix typo -implied completeness (not work in progress, although reality is usually different) -implied authority of author (especially because historically you need to convince a publisher to sell your book before you could call yourself an author) -implied budget to create professional book (like videos on homepage) -reading a book is disconnecting (digital or print). Online could be, but so many more distractions -promise of availability -cohesive purpose of the entire work, rather than rambling or eclectic sections -badge of honor to complete reading -purpose of learning/improving (even novels sorta)
Which of course transitions to using PMB, because use whichever your user wants, and each is better for different situations
