sudo: add-apt-repository: command not found #1

I ran into this while trying to install Android Studio on this Chromebook. The full message is: sudo: add-apt-repository: command not found

Doing some research, it seems that there is a repository I need to add to my computer, according to this post in order to install the software-properties-common package which has the add-apt-repository command.
