Error running X11 apps in Debian Stretch in crostini

I'm currently trying to run X11 apps in my Debian Stretch distro. I'm getting the current error:

nyonmark@stretch:~/sommelier$ signal-desktop 

(signal-desktop:284): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0

I've tried multiple settings for the display but without success.
