This isn't anywhere near ready to merge, but I wanted to PR what I have since it already kind of works in the happy path version. Will want to discuss certain design questions before proceeding fully. And of course, needs more testing as well as writing automated tests for it. ETC. Also I haven't implemented timezones beyond people can specify their timezone, or relative times.
