Mouse events for all types of placemark geometries #66

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What should this feature enhancement do?
Allow for something like google.earth.addEventListener(placemark, "click",
handler); to work for all types of placemarks (Polygons, Models,
LineStrings, etc.)

Are there any currently known workarounds that produce the same, or
similar, result?
N/A

I would agree this would be a great addon. I would like to have a click event on
kmlobject too. For example after loading a kml/kmz and appending it as a child,
Set a
click event on the whole kml

This, along with DOM events (like google maps), would be very useful.

Would especially be useful for being able to add listeners to the built in
layers of
google earth. For example when I turn on the Borders layer which includes
country
boundaries, placenames etc I would like to be able to add listeners for mouse
events
related to those features (e.g cities).

Daryl, can you file a separate feature request for that? I suspect that may be
significantly more difficult than the user-added geometry mouse events.

Being capable of firing events once a model is clicked, or, even being capable
of
having events associated with models will be a great addon the google APIs

This feature is now available in the latest version. Mouse events on models are
partially working. We will open a new issue for that and merge this one in.

Hi waqarattari,

If you take a look at the release notes:

http://code.google.com/apis/earth/documentation/releasenotes.html

There have been several new version of the plugin. If you don't have the latest
version, I'd suggest
uninstalling from Add/Remove programs and then installing again by visiting any
Earth API site.

Hi, please post this question to the developer forum:

http://groups.google.com/group/google-earth-browser-plugin/topics

as this is no longer relevant to this feature request.
