Receiving SMS - No Reply Contact Set (first SMS)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start GTalkSMS Service
2. Receive SMS notification on Pidgin
3. Attempt to reply using "reply:" - No Reply Contact Set

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: A reply to be sent, similar to in previous versions
What I see: ONLY with the first SMS received after starting the service, no 
reply contact is set. The reply fails to send.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.9. Android 2.2 (CYANOGENMOD) on Nexus One

Please provide any additional information below.
Has occured a few times. This issue was not in 1.7 and 1.8, however I just 
noticed it in 1.9. Only occurs after starting the service for the first time.
