offlineimap is deprecated

The project is no longer in active development. The author(s) have moved on to imapfw. This new project has not yet matured and is not a full replacement according to the projects website. Both projects are documented on the same website. offlineimap is python2 only with stalled plans to move to python3. python2 is depreciated as well. Most of these things have been facts for years.

As an alternative http://isync.sourceforge.net/ looks promising. It is also packaged in Debian: https://packages.debian.org/buster/isync At the bottom of the first linked page other alternatives are listed. offlineimap has a successor, but its development looks stalled: http://imapfw.offlineimap.org/
